Laura Hamilton is the founder of Elegance Lymphatic Care and an Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) Accredited Lymphoedema Practitioner based in the Mackay region of Queensland. She holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage and is trained in Complete Decongestive Therapy, with a special interest in lipoedema, lymphoedema, chronic oedema, compression therapy and post-surgical care. Laura combines professional knowledge with powerful lived experience. After developing lipoedema around puberty, she spent many years struggling with pain, swelling, disproportionate body shape and limited understanding from health professionals. Her own journey included significant weight loss, lymphoedema, multiple surgeries and more than 11 litres of lipoedema tissue removed from her legs. These experiences inspired her to establish Elegance Lymphatic Care so that people in regional Queensland could access knowledgeable, compassionate and practical support closer to home. Through her clinics in Marian and Mackay, Laura provides individualised assessment and treatment using manual lymphatic drainage, Complete Decongestive Therapy, compression garment prescription and fitting, pneumatic compression, low-level laser therapy, Hivamat therapy, taping, scar management and education. She also supports clients before and after surgery and works collaboratively with medical practitioners, allied health professionals, support coordinators and care providers. Laura is passionate about helping clients feel heard, understood and confident in managing their condition. She is committed to increasing awareness of lipoedema, improving access to appropriate care and advocating for earlier recognition and treatment, particularly for women who have spent years believing their symptoms were simply caused by weight or lifestyle. Her approach is respectful, evidence-informed, practical and deeply personal.
